The club was formed in 1984, as with many other road running clubs, in the wake of the birth of the London Marathon. Known for the first 8 years of existence as 'The Embarrassed Joggers' and based at Woodside School, Plaistow. A move to the track at Terence McMillan stadium in 1992 prompted a name change to the less self-conscious 'Newham Joggers'. And in 1994 'East End Road Runners' was born.
A fuller club history will follow shortly.
