East End Road Runners

About Us

East End Road Runners (EERR), the only dedicated road running club in Newham, is affliated to UK Athletics and England Athletics (2659155) and is a founder member of the award winning Newham Athletics Network. The mix of our growing membership reflects our location and work in one of the UK's most ethnically diverse communities.

The club is based at Terence McMillan Stadium (Newham Leisure Centre), situated at 281 Prince Regent Lane, London, E13 8SD - the entrance can be found at the crossroads of Prince Regent Lane and Newham Way (A13).

There is ample free car parking space outside the leisure centre. The nearest tube stations are Plaistow on the District line and Prince Regent on the DLR. The club is then only a short jog away from either station. Buses to the club: 147, 262, 300, 376, 473.

All of the club's training sessions are lead by qualified and experienced running coaches aided by qualified run leaders. There are changing facilities and toilets right next to the track.

The club currently meets three times a week:
Tuesday 6.45 - 8.15pm Track running - covering about 3 or 4 miles.
Thursday 7pm - 8.15pm Road running - covering 7 miles and up.
Sundays 8am and 9am Road running - covering 6 miles and up.

Tuesday:
Unlike most road running clubs, our main session is a speedwork session on the track. We have exclusive use of the 400 metre outdoor track at Terence McMillan Stadium from 6.30pm to 8.30pm [£3 track fee a session for members - £4 for non-members].

Thursday:
A steady/Fartlek paced run always 7 miles, on the roads and in local parks [with the option to cover up to 9 miles as a Fartlek session or other training options for more advanced runners].

Sunday:
Two steady paced runs. The more experienced runners / those training for the Half Marathon distance and up meet at the earlier time. Depending on the time of year these sessions also incorporate hill running / race pace practice runs / time trials.

Although all abilities are welcome, it is suggested that individuals who are completely new to running will benefit the most if they first try some Run England sessions, which cater especially for newer runners. East End Road Runners currently looks after six different Run England groups in Newham alone.
